Zaether, the world between worlds, was a pretty normal place. Other-worldly travelers came and went, hardly staying much past a week in order to go to a different world. These travelers were benevolent in most cases, and everything was well. When all outside travel stopped for more than a century, the people of Zaether were worried for a while, but then they settled into a calm lifestyle, and eventually, the adults of the present knew little about the outside worlds.
That's when everything came down.
The normal worm-hole opened up in Zaether, sending unfamiliar creatures and objects onto the planet. They started out small -- tiny brown mushroom-like creatures with a temper, dragon eggs, seemingly innocent gems... but then, after a month or so, the ones who could be taken as threats came in; robots capable of wrecking a planet, or beasts unknown to this world. It caused the chaos that was a normal thing so long ago, and many panicked. No one wanted them here, of course, what with not knowing who or what these creatures were, or where they came from. However, things just got stranger within a matter of weeks. The first Traveler the planet had seen in a long time came with the animals and monsters, just appearing from the worm-hole. Not all of them were human, but the fact that they could speak showed their intelligence, and sometimes, their power was great. Some started to destroy the lands, while others fought to stop it. However, the citizens of Zaether were unable to tell who was good and who was evil, and started to get scared of this creatures who just kept coming.
We all know what happens when humans become scared of things we don't know, though -- we want to destroy what we're scared of. That's precisely what a group of people did, taking travelers and testing on them, some of them facing death, others insanity. The travelers began to become a closely knit society based on their alliance, and many are looking for a way to get back home, but the first priority is taking down the Researchers.
In this fight, where do you stand? There's only one way to find out if you can outwit the Researchers, or if you work for them. Anytime you don't watch your back, you could make room for the end of your life.
