Flickerlight was crouched down on the opposite side of the clearing, observing the Clan's leader and the cats who were speaking with her. He tilted his head, watching the young apprentices misbehave. He then let out a sigh. Hazelstar would never let him have his own apprentice, and with good reason. Even he didn't feel as though he was cut out for the task of being a mentor. He'd probably scare the poor young cat to death with his moodiness or something.
He scratched an itch on his ear with his back foot. He hadn't seen anyone he could talk to that morning. It wasn't as though he knew anyone very well in particular, though. Everyone kept a distance from him, and only spoke with him when curious, or when it was absolutely necessary. It was rather lonely, being by himself, though. A wave of sadness suddenly rippled over him, causing his tail and whiskers to droop. He slunk to the ground and put his head on his front paws, letting out a massive sigh.
No more than a couple moments later, he jumped to his feet, feeling far better than he had before. Why in SkyClan's name does this always happen to me? he thought bitterly. He'd jumped up so fast it'd probably startled someone... another someone who'd probably never waste time saying anything to him. Maybe if he was lucky he'd at least get to go out on some sort of patrol that day. Hopefully.

Hawkpaw sighed, "awww man, I wanted to go battle Rippleclan or something." he complained; He was always so impatient and snappy. Hollypaw held her tail up and cheerfully smiled, "Yay! I love hunting!" she cheered happily, casting a glance at Hawkpaw with a ha-ha expression. Hawkpaw twitched his tail impatiently, "How long before Faintstep gets here?" he hissed. Hollypaw looked over and saw Flickerlight, "Why don't you come with us Flickerlight?" she asked the cat with her wide bright shimmery eyes. Hawkpaw padded to sit by Mythicstream, "Then can we do battle training please? I want to kill something!" he pumped himself up. [/size]

The cool morning air ruffled the grass around the dappled she cat. Her ice blue gaze was trained on the ground as she gently dug into the soft dirt. She bent her muzzle close to the fresh dirt and she placed her fangs around the stalks of a plant. Gently tugging at it she was able to pull it out of the ground with the roots intact. She added it to a rather large pile next to her. Standing up she arched her back some in a stretch, her black tail curling. She then lowered her front half down and stretched that way.
Once she was done working her limbs out she stood up and picked up the herbs she had gathered. Turning her icey gaze around the high grassed field she began to make her way back to camp. It wasn't long before she came to the entrance and slipped inside. Once she was clear of the thick grass barrior she paused and took in the sight around her. It wasn't until Hawkpaws voice drifted up and reached her ears did she pay much attention to the gathering cats around Hazelstar. Flicking her tail she padded over, her pawsteps soft and almost soundless thanks to her light weight.
Setting the herbs down she sat down. You know, Hawkpaw, it's not all about killing. If you go off and kill everything I would be out of a job. Though her tone was gentle and friendly her eyes where serious. She curled her white tipped tail around her white paws and watched him. She was fond of all the apprentices but she didn't like Hawkpaws eagerness to kill.

Mythicstream purred in amusement. "Spottednight is right, Hawkpaw. And also, you don't have to kill to win a battle. Just send them a good message. But yes, we will do some battle training later." Mythicstream was very patient with Hawkpaw. It was hard but she was his mentor and she had to be. Though he was a handful, she wouldn't want any other apprentice. Not even Hollypaw. This was a new challenge. It was good for her. She waited for Faintstep to get here. It seemed like a moon ago when she asked to lead a hunting patrol and she was itching to go.

Hazelstar stood back and watched the clanmates mingle with each other. Every time she looked at them she felt immense pride. Just knowing that she helped get them to where they were today and was now leading them was enough to keep her going for the rest of her life. All she needed was her clan.
"Greetings Spottednight. Everything is going well?" Hazelstar asked. Spottednight had been the medicine cat before she had become leader and it was strange that now they shared information about Skyclan and such when before it was just Hazeleyes getting prophecies on her own. The whole leader thing was a bit strange at times.
Glancing around the camp Hazelstar didn't see Faintstep so she turned back to Spottednight and said, "If you see Fainstep can you tell him that we headed out on a hunting patrol and we would love for him to join us?" She could tell that Mythicstream was waiting to leave camp and lead the patrol. She flicked her tail at Mythicstream to tell her to lead the way. "And please do come Flickerlight, Hazelstar added taking a step towards the warrior and apprentice. That would make two warriors, three if Faintstep joined them, two warriors, and herself. More than enough.

Flickerlight's ears pricked up at the apprentice's suggestion. They wanted him to come with them? Perfect! He sat up straight with his chest fur fluffed, and his tail held high in the air. Just moments later, he heard a similar request from the leader of the Clan herself! This time he was swelling with pride and happiness. "I'd love to come along," he meowed happily. "It's been a while since I've been out of the camp." He padded over to join the group that was leaving, dipping his head to each one of the cats in turn. Maybe if he tried his best not to act like a moody furball, he could make a few friends.

Spottednight lifted her gaze from the overzealous apprentice as his mentor spoke. She nodded in agreement to Mythicstreams words. She then pricked her multicolored ears and turned her icy gaze to her leader as she was addressed. I am well. It's been rather peaceful lately. Makes it easier to keep the stores filled
Her eyes became gentle as Hazelstar mentioned the warrior. She nodded and stood up. Alright, all be sure to let them know when I see them She bowed her farewell to the small group and picked up her herbs once more. She then trotted over to her den to disposite them into her stores.

Hawkpaw smiled at Spottednights comment and then looked to his mentor, Mythicstream with his eyes shimmering with excitement and pleasure, "Really! yes! hunting and battling in one day, Awesome!" he purred roughly and stuck his tail strait up and twitched it with happiness yet impatiens.
Hollypaw smiled as Flickernight joined the group, it was nice having so much company. she listened to Spottednight and was glad to hear there weren't any injuries so far. "do you think Faintstep will take me training? I want to be made a warrior so that I can have a mate and kits!" she meowed with a slight purr. she looked at Hazelstar and tilted her head, "Hazelstar? do you ever wish you could have kits? its not fair that she-cat leaders can't have them but toms can." she said clearly. Hawkpaw shrugged, "Thats the warrior code!" he smirked to his sister. "When we were at the gather last moon a Rippleclan apprentice said Birchstar and his mate Honeysomething were going to have kits. why should he get to have a family when a she-cat leader can't? us she-cat are always put down because of our sex." she pouted pointing out her facts. A tabby tom rolled over, green eyes wide with excitement. Today was another day of training with his apprentice. He couldn't wait, he felt like jumping up and screaming out to the world about how excited he was. Faintstep sat up and gave his chest a few quick licks. That was one of the best nights he'd ever had, it also was the best sleep he'd ever gotten. All his life he'd always wanted to be a warrior with an apprentice and now that wish and desire was coming true. Better go wake Hollypaw. He thought, while attempting not to step on any of the other warrior's tails. There were still quite a few warriors in the den.
He padded across MoonClan camp towards the apprentice's den. He poked his head in and skimmed over the apprentices. "Hollypaw, wake up, wemight get the dawn patrol!!" Faintstep called and then made his way towards the camp clearing to wait.as hesaw hollypaw and HAwkpaw staring at him,he licked his chest, embarresed. He had been so focused on finding Hollypaw he hadnt seen her. I'm so fidgety today, but I guess it's because I'm so excited. He thought, tail flicking back and forth impatiently. He was growing so excited that the thought of starting late made him grow a bit impatient."we should go now." ooc : sorta sucks. XD

Mythicstream nodded. "Alright then. Let's go." Mythicstream lead the patrol of out of the camp. They completely ignored Hollypaw. Herself had never really thought of it being unfair. She knew she wouldn't want to have both responsiblities at once. Tom just have to be a good father and that's it. She should of had explained that to Hollypaw but she just kept her mouth shut. Knowing apprentices, she would just ask another question. She wanted to hury up and get to Hawkpaw's battle training. This would be the frist time he had trained to fight. Though she did feel that she wasn't the right person for battle training. She didn't want anyone else mentoring him.

Hazelstar stiffened at Hollypaw's words, mostly the ones about Birchstar having kits. She hadn't heard that and it came as a shock to her. She stood there frozen for a second not knowing what to do. How could he be having kits? Didn't he love her? No, he didn't. She didn't love him either. It was all in the past. All Hazelstar loved now was her clan.
Luckily she didn't have to respond to the apprentice because Faintstep came up to the group. "Glad you decided to join us Faintstep," she said quickly turning away from Hollypaw towards her mentor. She stood and waited until everyone else had left the camp before she followed. She would take up the rear this time so she would be able to watch how everyone else interacted with each other and hunted.

Spottednight made her way over to her den. She paused beside the tall stalks of grass and pricked her ears as she heard Faintstep calling for Hollypaw. But before she could put her herbs down to let him know where Hollypaw was, he spotted her. She shook her head, her ice blue eyes glittering with amusement as she pushed her way into her clearing.

Hawkpaw jumped to his paws faster then a hummingbird racing to a flower, "Yes! lets go and then move on to battle training! I'm going to be the best fight there ever was in Moonclan, and then I'm going to kill ever Blackclan cat that stands in my way." Hawkpaw said highly of himself.
Hollypaw sighed and kept walking with everyone, "I'd rather master the arts of hunting then be a big brute who kills everyone!" she teased her brother with a bat to his ear. Hawkpaw swatted her right back, "Watch it or I'll kill you too!" he joked.
Hollypaw trotted ahead to pad next to her mentor, "Can we practice battle training today too?" she asked Faintstep.

The tabby smiled."Yes.We will go in the mossy clearing. There will be more room there."the tabby meowed.he paced through the foreest with the rest of the patrol.he looked around.he meowed."Hollypaw,do you scent anything?"Faintstep meowed.he quickly drew scent over his own jaws.he sat down, tail curved over his paws, looking ou tinto NIghtclan territory.he stretched boredly, and flicked a leaf.he had scented loner, but the thunderpath nearby muted everything else for him,as he wasnt a good tracker, beter built for hearing.Little did he kno ther was aa fox ambush creeping iup on the patrol.

Following the patrol Hazelstar kept her ears, ears and nose open. This was time for her to see how the apprentices were coming along and how the prey was running. Both extremely important things. Then she caught a smell of fox. Completely fresh. Like it was right next to them.
"Everyone stop, NOW," she kept her voice down low but loud and firm enough that everyone could hear her and stop what they were doing. "Fox, to the left, heading our way. She already knows we are here, Hazelstar said pausing again. "Hollypaw, run back to camp and warn the warriors. Bring some back but leave enough to defend the camp. HURRY! Everyone here form a circle so no one's back is exposed. We need to be ready for when she attacks." Hazelstar kept her cool but talked fast enough to get everything out as soon as possible. She tried not to show any of the fear she was feeling. They had just left the camp, the fox was way too close to camp for comfort.
